As the sun dipped below the horizon, the fading light offered a unique blend of shadows and warmth, enhancing the textured surfaces of the exterior on the building and provided an atmospheric backdrop that was both rustic and evocative.

I had anticipated a fully lit building as earlier promised by staff at the Centre, but only a few entrance area lights flickered on. This unexpected dimness could have posed a challenge, yet it created a moody and etheral ambience that added character to image. I pivoted my approach, allowing the natural light to guide my framing and composition.

Despite the partial illumination, I captured what I think is a dramatic image showing the statue of a ringer in the foreground against the Feiko Bouman Architects designed building. The limited lighting provided a sense of intimacy, drawing attention to the details that might otherwise get lost in brighter conditions. The final result was a photograph that resonated with the rich heritage of Australian pastoral life.
