Remarkable Rocks, Kangaroo Island, SA

I’ve wanted to shoot at Remarkable Rocks for some time and scouting the location with my beautiful wife Ivy (Ivy Yang Tours) was invaluable as it will be one of our stops on a future photography workshop tour we have planned.

We timed our arrival perfectly. The sunset photo shoot offered a stunning backdrop of rugged coastal cliffs and unique sandstone formations. Our session began in the late afternoon, capturing the dynamic interplay of light and shadow as the sun descends toward the horizon.

We played with various angles, utilising the textured surfaces of the rocks to create depth in their images. The vibrant colours of the sunset, ranging from deep oranges to subtle pinks, enhanced the natural beauty of this location. I had to pay careful attention to camera settings to balance the changing light conditions, ensuring optimal exposure and culminated in great images that highlight the scenic grandeur of this iconic location.
